Norfolk County Jail Offenders Rehabilitate With New England Wildlife Center Animals

A pilot program arranged by Norfolk Sheriff Michael Bellotti aims to rehabilitate both prison offenders and injured wildlife. Inmates from the Norfolk County Jail work at the New Enlgand Wildlife Center in Weymouth, Mass. to learn about respect and discipline. The program is now complete and has been deemed a success.

Offenders sit through classes learning the basics of wildlife. Each are assigned to specific jobs around the center.

“It hopefully bridges that gap from jail to the real world,” said Sheriff Bellotti. “That's re-entry.”
